The North Wales coast should brace itself for snow, ice, sleet and the possibility of freezing fog in the lead up to New Year according to the Met Office today.

In response to an icy Wednesday morning which saw bad weather touch some parts of North Wales, a weather warning has now been extended to cover much of the area from 6pm tonight (Wed 30 Dec) through to 2pm on New Year's Eve.

The yellow weather warning which extends down the West Coast from Glasgow, covers many parts of North West England including Manchester, Liverpool and Chester.

All of the North Wales coast is covered by the warning, apart from the Lleyn Peninsula in the far West of the region.

The statement from the Met Office warns that ice is likely to form across parts of Scotland, North Wales and Northern England leading to travel disruption along with snow for some parts.

A yellow 'Be aware' weather suggests that we should prepare for some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, possible injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
