Owners of pubs, restaurants and indoor venues in North Wales should brace themselves for even tighter restrictions in the run up to Christmas according to the latest from First Minister Mark Drakeford today.

The tiered system which will be rolling out again in England from next week will not be adopted in Wales said the Minister, confirming that plans are still being worked through.

To minimise the spread of the disease ahead of a controlled easing of restrictions over the Christmas holidays, it is thought that many venues will be forced to adopt new rules which could see the sale of alcohol banned after 6pm in the evening.

In addition cinemas, bowling alleys and indoor entertainment venues will close whilst gyms, leisure centres, hairdressers and non essential shops will be permitted to trade.

Schools and nurseries will continue to stay open except for during the standard Christmas holiday period.

The date and details of the new restrictions are yet to be announced but it is thought that a decision will be taken over the weekend ahead of confirmation on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Welsh Government have confirmed that financial assistance will be made available to those businesses adversely impacted by the new rules.
