Local Rotarians recently gathered to hear about the inspiring work of a local children's hospice and the work behind the scenes to fund raise for the charity.

At the event hosted by the Cae Mor Hotel, Llandudno Rotarians were on hand to give Beverley Bradley a warm welcome as she described the work of Ty Gobaith “Hope House” to the assembled room.

The original Hope House is a children’s hospice in Shropshire in 1995 and Ty Gobaith is a sister hospice located in the beautiful Conwy Valley which, since 2004 has been the children’s hospice for North Wales

Beverley, who is fundraiser for Ty Gobaith, explained that it is a happy place devoted to helping children with limited life expectancy to make the most of life, despite this adversity.

The bedrock of the work of the Hospice is giving respite care for children and young adults.

A typical child may visit 4 or 5 times a year for an average of 7 years, although this varies hugely. The returnees see it as a holiday and it is also a lifesaver for parents who are often juggling two jobs and care for other children along with their responsibility for the child who is sick.

Over the years, the Hospice has been able to develop other services, such as outreach nurses visiting children, entertainment that includes the siblings and there is always space for parents to grieve with their child  in privacy as their life ends or has ended

The Rotary Club of Llandudno expressed its ongoing support by presenting Beverley with a cheque for £500 towards the work of this valued and highly admired organisation.
