The National Zoological Society of Wales, the charity which owns and runs the Welsh Mountain Zoo is reaching out to recruit a key member of staff as it gears up for another successful year and season.

It has just been announced that the zoo is seeking to recruit a new Head Keeper who will answer to the Animal Collection Manager and the Director of Living Collections and will have supervisory responsibility over all animal keepers.

The important role will only be open to high calibre candidates from across the world as it embraces modern conservation thinking and strives for high standards in all departments. It is a member of BIAZA, EAZA, WAZA and Species360.

Candidates will be expected to have a minimum of 10 years zoo animal experience and be qualified to at least DMZAA level or equivalent.

Perks will include living and working in one of the most beautiful parts of the world in an organisation that cares passionately about animal welfare and conservation. The successful candidate is expected to live on site in a cottage on the Colwyn Bay site.
