After the phenomenal success of last week's Wales Rally GB which thrilled crowds in Colwyn Bay, organisers have today made a welcome announcement.

Rumours had been circulating that the event would leave Wales next year and take a break to visit Northern Ireland.

Wales Rally GB confirmed earlier that it will remain in Wales despite meetings being had to discuss the feasibility of moving the event out of the country in 2020.

The event which is sponsored by the Welsh Government is a very coveted attraction for visitors and local people and contributes an estimated £10m to the local economy.

Over 100,000 people attended the event over a number of stages in Liverpool and North Wales.

The location in Wales for next year's Rally is yet to be announced but Conwy County Borough Council are said to be keen to keep it here along with the iconic Great Orme stage and a possible return to Colwyn Bay.
