The long way round for Conwy Valley residents?

February 25, 2019 - 1454 views

Residents living down the Conwy Valley face some rather lengthy diversions as work begins on a vital link over the River Conwy.

For 5 weeks, the bridge at Tal-y-Cafn will be closed for essential repair work meaning that people heading just a few miles either side of the bridge near the A470 will be diverted via Conwy or Llanrwst. It will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles.

Many locals with children who attend Ysgol Eglwysbach face a round trip journey time of just under an hour to drop off or collect their children and residents who work on the opposite side of the bridge face a similar commute.

Conwy County Borough Council have apologised for the inconvenience and have said the work is unavoidable to ensure the bridge remains safe.

Work will take place from 8am on Monday 25th February to 4pm on Friday 29th March.
