Struggling Colwyn Bay families thrown a lifeline

August 11, 2018 - 1254 views

Struggling families in Colwyn Bay have been thrown a lifeline after a community enterprise group have secured half a million pounds of funding.

The organisation Creating Enterprise, an off-shoot of Cartrefi Conwy secured the money from the National Lottery for the four year programme - Making Work, Work For All. The project will specifically target around 100 tenants of Cartrefi Conwy and their housing partner HAWS.

The areas being supported include poorer working families in Mochdre, the Peulwys Estate and Rhos-on-Sea as well as in Llandudno.

The scheme aims to identify families who are struggling with their finances, giving them advice, support and financial assistance. It will be assisted through a partnership with CVSC, a Colwyn Bay organisation offering support to community groups and charitable organisations. A search for a project officer to manage the project will begin shortly.

Last year Creating Enterprise helped many local residents find work through it's Employment Academy programme .
