North Wales Police have asked motorists in Colwyn Bay and the county to take extra special care due to the bad weather.

Overnight many parts of the county experienced snowfall, sleet and ice following a Met Office weather warning which remains in place for the remainder of Saturday.

So far this morning there have been problems on many local roads according to the Police.

Earlier several vehicles got into difficulty due to continuing snow showers on Penrhyn Hill on the approach to the Little Orme. Some motorists were unable to drive up the road.

There have also been reported problems on the King's Drive hill linking the West End with Colwyn Heights. Parts of the B5113 between Colwyn Bay and Llanrwst are only passable with extreme care.

Stay at home is the message from officers today.

More snow flurries are expected in Conwy across the morning and into the afternoon on Saturday with temperatures expected to reach a high of 2 degrees celcius.

Sunday should see sunny spells and temperatures between -1 degrees celcius and 3 degrees celcius.

However there is the continuing chance of more snow and ice with an extended weather warning running through to 9pm on Sunday evening.
