A team of intrepid walkers are getting set to raise money for St. David's Hospice in memory of a Colwyn Bay lady.
Katharine Bevan, George Pearson, Alice Bevan-Fisher, Greg Fisher, Victoria Bevan and Rory Kennerley will follow the Pyg Track route up to the steepest path to the summit of Snowdon and descend via the Miners track with an aim to raise £1500.
They are all walking in memory of Sue Bevan. Sue who lived and grew up in Colwyn Bay. Earlier this year, she was cared for at St David’s Hospice after being diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away in May aged 66.
Sue’s stepdaughter Victoria Bevan said: “This is a challenge for us that we’re feeling nervous about but at the same time excited to achieve something together and raise money for St David’s Hospice.
“Only two of our group (Alice and Greg) have climbed Snowdon before.
“St David’s Hospice provided the most fantastic support for our step-mother Sue, her two daughters Sara and Tamsin and our father Rupert.
“We want to say a huge thank you to St David’s for their amazing work and help them raise money to continue doing the fantastic things they do!”
Conwy Area Fundraiser James Wilde said: “Our patients, their family and carers are at the heart of everything we do and St David’s recognises that caring for someone at the end of their life can be very hard and so we support family members, friends and carers at this difficult time too.
“We are glad we were able to be there for Victoria and her family in their time of need and we thank them for all their fundraising efforts”
The group of walkers have said that if they reach their fundraising target they will finish the walk with a wild swim in Llyn Lldaw on the way down.
