A large scale search operation to find a missing jet-skier was launched yesterday afternoon after following the discovery of jetski with no one on board, 1.5 miles off Porth Eirias in Colwyn Bay.

The alarm was raised just after 3.30pm when one of the persons on board came ashore at Porth Eirias after swimming for about 2 hours to reach shore. He reported another person was missing after the jetski had taken a hard turn and thrown the pair off.

A large scale search operation was jointly launched by Llandudno Coastguard, Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team, Llandudno Lifeboat RNLI and Rescue 936. Assistance was also given from Colwyn Bay Watersports and members of the Colwyn Jetski Club

The casualty was located by one of the members of the Jetski club and brought back to shore where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance.

Both casualties were taken to hospital as a precaution and all rescue craft were stood down.
