Drivers and visitors on the A55 are breathing a sigh of relief as news that the recent A55 roadworks have come to an early finish.

The remedial work on the Kneeshaw Lupton bridge westbound ceased yesterday after weeks of work caused large delays and misery for many local commuters particularly around early morning and late afternoon.

Ken Skates, the Welsh minister responsible for roads in the area made the announcement just in time for the weekend and ahead of two large events which will soon be held on the North Wales Coast - namely the Conwy Feast and the World Shore Angling Championships. These high profile events are expected to see many visitors head into the area via the A55 route.

Although the works have been completed ahead of time, other activity is expected across the autumn and winter on the road and on the M56 feeding motorists onto the A55 and into Wales. Large scale disruption will be return to the area next autumn as the A55 receives bridge remedial work on the Eastbound carriageway.
