A selfless year group at a Colwyn Bay school took part in a community project as part of a special initiative before the summer break.

The Year 7 group at Rydal Penrhos participated in a special Beach clean-up along the picturesque Colwyn Bay coastline last Tuesday, which is one of a number of initiatives devised by the school in the hope of improving specific areas of the region.

During the day pupils picked up an enormous amount of litter from the area, which is currently undergoing significant work as part of Conwy County Council’s regeneration plan.

They also got the opportunity to enjoy some free time by playing on the beach and at the artificial surface situated at Porth Eirias.

The beach clean-up was part of Rydal Penrhos’ annual Activity Week schedule, which is action-packed with various event and excursions as a rewards for pupils’ hard work and commitment during the academic year.

Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “Our Year 7 group have really come of age during their initial stages at our senior site here at Rydal Penrhos, and it was no surprise to see them taking on their latest community task with their customary enthusiasm and will.

“We are very proud to be heavily involved within the community and are always striving for ways to assist the Colwyn Bay and Conwy area in any way we can.”
