A bid to merge two esteemed rugby clubs and base them in North Wales has been abandoned after critics branded the project 'a fiasco'.
In a press briefing today Scarlets have confirmed that the proposed merger with Osprey's is now 'off the table' after Osprey's were said to have changed their mind.
It was hoped that as part of 'Project Reset' that the two clubs in rival regions would join forces reorganising domestic rugby in Wales.
However critics branded the process as 'chaotic', 'reckless' and 'incompetent' with Osprey's chairman Mike James resigning due to the 'catastrophic mismanagement' of the situation.
