January 06, 2021 - 844 views

The North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Arfon Jones has announced he is to step down from his role and not seek re-election later this year.

He cited challenges to developing his role which he says are linked to Brexit, the on-going pandemic and a shorter term of office.

However, Mr. Jones said his main reason was to step down after working for 46 years.

Mr. Jones began his career in North East Wales and became an Inspector and Councillor in Wrexham.

A further announcement about the election is expected from the office of the NWPCC  shortly.
