Morgan Owen scored his first goal for the Seagulls with his first touch after coming on as a second half substitute in a 2-0 away win at Corwen.

Tom McCready had given the Bay a half-time lead with a free kick into the top corner of the net and Morgan headed the second from a Julian  Williams cross on 63 minutes to secure the points.

On a difficult pitch, not helped by a downpour an hour before kick off, the Bayh dominated much of the first half and Jordan Carrington twice had headers from corners saved by the keeper, who also held onto a Tom McCready free kick, and Toby Jones had a shot blocked away for a corner after good play by Mitch Bryant had set up the chance.

The Bay deservedly took the lead on 22 minutes with a super free kick from Tom McCready, arrowed into gthe far top corner of the net, after Mitch Bryant had been foul 15 yards out.

Toby Jones had a goalbound shot saved by the Keeper's outstretched foot and McCready saw a long range shot turned onto a post by the diving keeper, who was fortunate to gather the rebound.

Corwen were more of a threat in the second half, forcing Andy Coughlin into a couple of good sabes, but Colwyn bay doubled their lead on 63 minutes when Morgan Owen, who had just come on for injured Sion Edwards, scored with his first touch as he headed in off the post from Julian Williams' great cross.

Home keeper Dylan Jones made a couple of big one-on-one saves from Mitch Bryant to prevent the Bay increasing their lead, but three more points closes the gap on fourth-placed Conwy to three points with a game in hand.

It was nice for 18-year-old local lad Morgan Owen ito get his first goal and he was delighted.

"I'm really happy," he said afterwards. "I scored a few goals for Glan Conwy but this was my first for Colwyn Bay and hopefully there are more to come.

"It was a good ball in from Julian  which made getting my head to it a bit easier, but it was a great feeling to see the ball go in and it was crazy when all the lads jumped on me in celebration."
