Local schools get inventive to raise some Christmas cheer

Schools across the county have become very inventive in the run up to Christmas and have turned to technology to provide Christmas concerts, celebrations and ways to raise some good old fashioned cheer.

Last night ITV Wales news premiered a video featuring staff from Ysgol Craig-y-Don which has so far been viewed over 3,000 times.

The school says it was wonderful fun and something to spread a little hope, joy and cheer during what has been a difficult time for pupils and parents.

In Colwyn Bay, Rydal Penrhos has also turned to technology to spread the Christmas message by releasing a virtual mini Christmas Concert for pupils, staff, family members and the wider community to enjoy.

Pete Williams, who is the Head of Music at Rydal Penrhos and a volunteer presenter on Bayside Radio explains further: “This year, we wanted to present some performances for Christmas, that parents could listen to, in place of our annual Christmas Concert.

“Some items have been recorded by pupils at home, and in one case, staff at home/school, and emailed to the music department to have accompaniments built around them.

“Other recordings, such as the prep items, have been recorded and supervised at the prep school by Mr Alan McGuinness.

“We hope you thoroughly enjoy these performances and we wish you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year.”
