A row has broken out over claims in the local press that Colwyn Bay’s 40’s Festival were planning a mock battle which would have had an environmental impact on the town.

Event organiser Kai Davies was forced to make a statement on social media after being confronted by concerned residents.

“During this year’s battle, there will be no water explosions of any kind in any of the lakes in Parc Eirias. We are committed to protecting the environment and as previously said would not destroy the habitat. Please ignore the news stories from the Daily Post and Pioneer about water explosions.

The Battle will not place in Llyn Eirias. We have much respect for the environment and we will not be anywhere near that amazing habitat. The battle will take place behind the Civic Centre. More details about it will be released soon”.
