The High Sheriff Awards nomination process for 2020 has now begun.

The awards launched in 2013, are to recognize outstanding contributions made by individuals or voluntary/community organisations or groups (with a charitable aim) to their respective communities.

Each year The High Sheriff’s Award Ceremony recognises the hundreds of people who volunteer their time to change place and lives - rebuilding community spirit by helping others stay safe and well.

The Office of High Sheriff of Clwyd has responsibility for Conwy, Denbighshire Flintshire and Wrexham and is an ancient but crucial link between the Crown, the Judiciary and the people of the County.

An important role for the modern-day High Sheriff is to recognise and promote the Voluntary Sector.

It has just been revealed that the 2019 Community Awards will be held at Theatr Clwyd, Mold on Friday 20th March 2020 and to recognise individuals or voluntary/ community organisations or groups (with charitable aims) that have made an outstanding contribution to their respective communities.

There will be three awards as follows:

Two awards for individuals from each of the principal areas, namely Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham that form the preserved county of Clwyd.

One award for a voluntary/community organisation or group (with charitable aims) operating within each of the principal areas, namely Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham that form the preserved County of Clwyd.

Stephanie Catherall who is current High Sheriff said, "So far in my year as High Sheriff of Clwyd I have been able to witness first-hand the commitment of the people in Flintshire, Wrexham, Conwy and Denbighshire.

"I have been deeply moved by their enthusiasm in service to others".

These Annual Award Ceremonies are a significant element of the High Sheriff’s term in office, to recognise and acknowledge the tireless and dedicated work of volunteers. They are the glue that holds our society together".
