Conwy County Borough Council is asking residents for their thoughts on the draft Rights of Way Improvement Plan for Conwy, covering more than 16,000km of outdoor routes in the county.
The Rights of Way Improvement Plan was introduced ten years ago, looking at how to improve access to paths and routes across the county. The new plan will cover 2019 to 2029 and includes footpaths, bridleways, cycle tracks, byways and open spaces.
“In the last ten years, we’ve seen a change in the way people look at exercise and outdoor leisure as key elements to improving health,” said Cllr Donald Milne, Cabinet Member for Environment.
“The recently introduced active travel routes are adding greater opportunities to the existing cycle paths and coastal walking routes. The increased availability of rights of way and their access for all can only be seen as a benefit to health and leisure in our community.”
The new plan focusses on making sure the network of public rights of way is open and available for use; providing a more connected, safe and accessible network suitable for all users; promoting and improving the use of the network; encouraging more community involvement in managing local rights of way; and providing an up-to-date map of routes.
Copies of the plan are available on the Council’s website and paper copies from the Council’s offices in Mochdre.
Residents can comment on the plan via post, email or the Council’s website before 17th June 2019.
