As fundraising goes this has got to be one of the most innovative and somewhat scary experiences which we've seen in a while!

Nevertheless many people have already signed up to support an evening of firewalking at Porth Eirias in aid of Tenovus Cancer Care this Thursday.

If you’ve got fire in your soul for fundraising, but don’t want to take on a 20 mile hike, how about taking on a short 20ft walk instead? All you have to do is trust yourself.

Join organisers and many other enthusiastic individuals who will literally feel the fire and walk barefoot over a bed of red-hot embers measuring around 800 degrees. There's no tricks, no special effects. Just you and the fire!

In the heat of the moment, all of your survival instincts will tell you to stay put; to stay where it’s safe. But, with training from experts and an enthusiastic crowd behind you, the fire within you will burn brighter than the fire around you, and you will rise to the challenge.

Organisers say that fear is at the centre of the experience, but don’t worry - it’s perfectly safe, and the event is open for all ages (minimum age 16) and abilities.

Firewalking is the act of walking barefoot over a 15-20ft long bed of hot wooden coals. A combination of pine, ash and oak is burnt and then broken down into a smooth red hot path of embers.

You'll begin your fun and interactive training session learning new disciplines to help get you in the mind-set to ‘feel the fear and do it anyway’ and complete your firewalk. You will then begin your walk where your family and friends are welcome to come along and cheer you on!

When you sign up to Firewalk, you will receive a fundraising pack to help you reach your target, including a free candle-bag and home money box, a fun and interactive training session from the Firewalking experts and a certificate of achievement, and to be able to say you really have ‘walked one fire’

Registration is only £12 and Tenovus ask participants aim to raise £80 in sponsorship.
