Rydal Penrhos School will be offering four fully funded day places for prospective pupils entering Sixth Form and Year 7.

Executive Principal John Waszek and Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, with the approval of the Governing Body, have confirmed that the four places in total are available for 2020 entry in September and applications are now being taken for anyone wishing to apply.

Year 7 places will be awarded based on Entrance Examination results and interview, with Year 12 Sixth Form places awarded on predicted GCSE grades and subsequent interview with a senior staff member during the assessment process.

This is a means tested scheme for families with a combined income of less than £30,000 per annum.

Anyone residing in North Wales is welcome to apply, and all applicants must attend a state school.

Two places have been allocated for Year 7 entry, with a further two set to be awarded for Year 12.

It has been another exceptional year of academic achievement throughout the school, which resulted in an extremely pleasing set of A Level and GCSE results from a large number of talented pupils.

This academic focus is enhanced by a thriving extra-curricular provision that has seen national triumphs in areas such as Sport, Music, Drama and Art, with many also taking full advantage of Rydal Penrhos’ Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme to secure Gold accolades and a trip to a royal ceremony.

Sixth Form members play a key role throughout Rydal Penrhos at community and charity events, in addition to supporting younger pupils in their Prefect and Peer Mentor roles, which benefit the incoming Year 7 group considerably.
