A family event celebrating the simplest of children’s pleasures - Playing Out - will be on its way to Colwyn Bay and other villages and towns across the area this summer.

Last year’s Colwyn Bay event was a great success and will be returning again bigger and better than ever before. The date of this year’s event is expected to be announced shortly.

This year sessions are planned for Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Llanfairfechan, Penmaenmawr, Conwy, Llandudno Junction, Deganwy, Abergele, Melin Y Coed, Capel Garmon, Ysbyty Ifan, Rowen and Pentrefoelas.

Numerous local organisations and council departments will be coming together to to ensure that a wide range of play opportunities are made available.

Play opportunities include den building, rope swings, sand and water, messy play, cardboard box city, big bubbles, painting, boat building and pond dipping.

The focus of the events is on children directing their own play and adults are encouraged to allow play to continue without getting too involved.

Children will have supervised access to tools, den building, mud and water play supervised by trained playworkers. Parent should expect the kids to get wet and muddy.

Playing Out is an ‘open access’ event meaning children can come and go as they please. Parents are advised to attend; under 8’s must be supervised.
