The Bay of Colwyn and Conwy is bracing itself for another bout of bad weather after two days of snow and ice effected schools and businesses across the area.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place for Thursday from late afternoon onwards following predicted overnight temperatures drop to minus 4 degrees centigrade - the coldest night of winter so far.

Areas on the North Wales coast are expected to see snow flurries move in by 7pm into the early hours of Friday.

The weather has so far temporarily shut a number of Conwy schools including Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn, Ysgol Aberconwy and the Penrhos Education Centre.

Attempts to collect recycling from a number of communities were thwarted on Wednesday thanks to the bad weather.

Trucks were unable to reach some homes in Old Colwyn, Llysfaen and Llanddulas. Conwy Council have urged householders to leave out their bins for them to be emptied at the earliest possible opportunity.
