Sam Downey will captain the Seagulls in their Nathaniel MG Cup tie away to Buckley Town tomorrow (Saturday December 12) with Lewis Sirrell and Jack Higgins both in contention to make their debuts.

The game, which will be Bay's first since the 2-0 win over Corwen on March 6th, has to be played behind closed doors due to the Covid restrictions.

Manager Craig Hogg said: "We are as ready as we can be for the game and I'm eager to see how we apply the hard work we've completed since we reported back from the various lockdowns.

"It is going to be a big test for us for many reasons and we are fully aware of that.

"Football is a true indicator of what you are made of when your back is up against the wall and tomorrow's game will teach us all something new about ourselves.

"Sam Downey will now captain the side and I'm pleased for him. He is highly respected within the group and is a leader by great example. It is a role he fully deserves.

"Lewis Sirrell and Jack Higgins are in contention to make their competitive debuts for the club and Damien Ketley will also be available to make his first appearance since November 2019 following knee surgery.

"We know Buckley are a good side, but having not played them at all last year we are going into the game pretty much in the dark about them.

"What we do know is that we're playing a cup game so I'm expecting a real battle at their place.

"It will be good to see the lads back out there playing again, but we all know what we have to do - and I'm hoping to see that in its entirety."
