An aspiring cricketer at Rydal Penrhos has been rewarded for his exceptional first season with a regional side.

Arran Sen, a Year 8 pupil at the school, recently won the U13 Coaches’ Award at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club’s presentation evening, which was given in recognition of his attitude, work ethic and setting an example to the group.

The all-rounder made a considerable impact with the Bay youth set-up at both U13 and U15 level, and he also gained senior experience as part of the club’s third XI.

Arran, who recently travelled to India for a landmark tour with the Lancashire U13 squad, arrived at Rydal Penrhos on a sports scholarship in 2017 and has achieved a significant amount in a short space of time.

This includes the Spirit of Cricket Award during the school’s annual contest against Marylebone CC.

He will now begin training with the Liverpool and District Cricket League Premier Division side during their pre-season sessions as the pupil aims to break into the second unit this summer.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This is another well-deserved accolade for Arran and is something that has worked hard to attain.

“He is enormously committed to improving all areas of his game both with our coaching staff and with Colwyn Bay and Lancashire, something that has brought with it significant progress so far.

“There is no doubt that Arran has a great future ahead of him and we look forward to being a part of it.”
