Craig's thoughts after Seagulls' first week training

Colwyn Bay FC Manager Craig Hogg updates players and fans on his latest thoughts as the start of a new season in a new Welsh league gets ever closer.

It has been a very good week back in training and I'm pleased with how Week One has gone.

We've completed four sessions and the players have worked very hard indeed, along with the backroom staff who have all worked really well together.

On top of that, the facilities and support from the staff at Parc Eirias have been excellent.

We have really enjoyed working there and we are very grateful for the help we have had from a number of staff on site - they have been great to work with.

On the squad front I feel there has been a really good 'buy-in' from the players in terms of how we work and that is hugely encouraging.

The lads have taken ownership of the standards we've set each other as a dressing room and it is a big plus to see that happening so early on in the pre-season schedule.

Another big positive has also been the way in which the younger lads have fitted in and trained over the past week. They have caught up with the speed and tempo of the sessions and have done well.

Unfortunately we have come to an agreement to postpone next week's scheduled friendly at Runcorn Town as both clubs have a number of players unavailable for that weekend.

Vauxhall away on the Tuesday (July 9th) will now be out first pre-season game.

We have also had confirmation this week of the league fixtures, which is great.

I am pretty sure we will find out ,quite early on, just how tough a league we are going in to.

In my view we will be playing some of the title favourites within  the first five games, along with a visit to newly promoted Llangefni and a huge local derby against near neighbours Llandudno. All are great games to look forward to.

For now we have a huge amount of work to perform before the season starts.

Our focus will be fixed on getting that work done as best we can and we will draw up battle plans for our league opponents in the weeks to come.
