Council tax premiums set to come into force in April

October 21, 2024 - 458 views

Starting from April the 1st, owners of second homes and empty homes in Conwy will face increased Council Tax premiums.

The council has voted in favour of the changes, with a one hundred and fifty percent premium for second homes, a 200% premium for properties empty for up to five years, and a hefty 300% premium for homes empty for five years or more.

The purpose of the premiums is to alieviate pressure on the local housing market and encourage individuals with empty properties to utilise them increasing valuable and scarce housing stock in Conwy county.

These new rates will take effect from April 2025.
