Cllr Abdul Khan, Chair of Conwy County Borough Council recently visited St Josephs Community Connect Food Bank in Colwyn Bay.

In the response to the first Lockdown in 2020 St Joseph's Community Connect was initially created to deliver food to those self isolating. Then, together with the Saint Vincent De Paul Society in Colwyn Bay, the food bank was developed.

Cllr Khan, said, “I was truly touched by the sheer hard work the volunteers are carrying out in helping those in need in our community. It is a challenging time for us all but one thing Covid 19 has done, is brought all our communities closer together and people are going extra miles to help each other.

“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers, who are making the difference in their own communities. I think those volunteers are our local unsung heroes. I was fortunate to see them in action first hand at St Joseph’s Community Connect Food Bank.”

Tom MacLean President St Vincent De Paul Colwyn Bay Conference, said, “Individuals, families, those whose furlough has ended, those whose jobs no longer exist, those waiting for their first payment of Universal Credit, the homeless, those self isolating and all who need our help are welcome to contact us.”

The foodbank opens from 10am to 12noon on Monday and Saturday but anyone needing help can email office@stjosephsrcc.org.uk for help anytime.

Food donations can be taken to the presbytery at 63 Conway Road, Colwyn Bay between 9am and 6pm any day of the week and at weekends.
