Controversial environmental management company Kingdom has just seen their contract extended by a year to help manage the environment in Conwy and enforce litter offences. Conwy County Council voted narrowly in favour of retaining Kingdom with a casting vote from Councillor Nigel Smith favouring a 12 month option over a proposed 6 month extension.

The company which was recently was sacked from operating in Flintshire after alleged concerns were raised by a number of local authorities about how it operated with the communities and people in the area. Claims were made of 'overbearing behaviour'. However the company recieved support from a number of Conwy councillors including Colwyn Bay's Glyn councillor Chris Hughes who said he had heard very few complaints.

The company recently had an online skirmish with Sean Taylor the owner of ZipWorld and sponsor of Stadiwm Zipworld in Colwyn Bay. Mr. Taylor said he would 'physically eject' any Kingdom enforcers operating on his land after claims were made that the company handed out fines at his tourist attractions. He said Kingdom was potentially harming tourism in the area.
