Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has expressed concern over the latest set of Covid-19 vaccination figures for Wales which reveal differences in the number of people receiving the jab in different parts of Wales.

The figures show that Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) was the poorest performing board with just 0.81 percent (815 people per 100,000) vaccinated.

By comparison, 3.05 percent of those resident in the Powys Teaching Health Board (3,048 per 100,000) and 2.05 percent of those in the Hywel Dda area (2,052 per 100,000) have been.

Mr. Millar said:“Whilst I very much welcome the increase in the number of vaccinations across Wales, with 48,404 people in Wales having received the inoculation, it is concerning that North Wales is lagging behind.

“You’re twice as likely in South Wales to have had the vaccination and three times more likely to have had it in Powys than in North Wales.

“The Welsh Government need to urgently provide the people of North Wales with the confidence that they will not be left behind.”

Health Boards across Wales have pledged to increase the pace of vaccinations across the country in line with the allocation provided to them.
