Community funds for area effected by Cayley work

October 13, 2018 - 2056 views

Following news that the Cayley Promenade in Rhos-on-Sea is due to be shut from Winter until Spring of next year, Welsh Water/Dwr Cymru have announced that they are making a community chest available to groups in the area.

The special fund has been set up to help local charities and community groups benefit from grant funding in the area effected by the works and it is a way of helping compensate for some of the inconvenience caused.

Details of the fund were announced after it was revealed that major disruption will be likely after the road closes from December to March to implement a flood defense drainage scheme. Exploratory work is already underway in the Rhos-on-Sea area.

The Community Fund is a chance for communities to boost fundraising efforts for good causes in the area and you could receive funding up to a value of £1,000.

Examples of projects that could receive funding include:

  • Improvements to the environment or local community initiatives promoting health, wellbeing and environmental objectives.
  • Activities undertaken by registered community groups (specifically with health, wellbeing, environmental objectives).
  • Improving and supporting local education activity (e.g. water efficiency, environmental work).
