The first team squad reported for pre-season training today at Eirias Park's indoor pitch and had a good opening session.

Goalkeeper Andy Coughlin was the only absentee as he is away on holiday, but is said to be fully recovered from the broken arm he suffered against Leek at the end of last season.

Assistant manager Mark Orme reported: "It was a really good session with excellent numbers. Everybody looks as though they have looked after themselves during the summer and fitness levels are very good.

"We've put a lot of time and effort into want we wanted to get through today and I think we achieved everything  we wanted to in the sesson and the lads were excellent.

"We'll be training Tuesday and Thursday and then back here again next Saturday and before we know it we are into the pre-season games so it a busy schedule.

"Hoggy (Craig Hogg) and Covs (Neil Coverley) have  done a lot of work to get the players we wanted in early and that is important so we can start to mix and gel in plenty of time to start of the new season,"

Skipper Tom McCready said everybody is looking forward to getting started.

"I can't wait. All the new lads are here and the squad looks to have real quality in it," he said.

"We've got a little bit more experience than last season which is also good.

"Its a new challenge playing in the Welsh system, although I have played a few games in the Welsh Premier when I was on loan to Airbus, but the coaching team and everything like that remains much the same and the attitude is the same as always -  that we go out and give it our best in every game.

"Having the squad pretty much all together early doors so everyone can gel and can gel and get to know everyone else is also really good.

"As I said before  I can't wait to get pre-season done, get into the games and give it our best shot."

The opening pre-season game is away  to North West Counties side Runcorn Town on Saturday July 3rd.
