Colwyn Bay school reach IGSA Matchplay Regional final

Talented golfers at Rydal Penrhos produced another stunning effort to progress to the regional finals of a prestigious competition.

The school’s Golf Academy trio of Reuben Bather, Charley Simpson and Adrian Lewis took on Leeds Grammar School in the ISGA Matchplay semi-final at Prestatyn Golf Club on Wednesday, November 7 in testing conditions.

Welsh international, sports scholar and Conwy Sports Award finalist Reuben got Rydal Penrhos off to a flyer with a superb 5 and 4 triumph to continue what has been a sensational few months for the aspiring star.

The visitors managed to get back on level terms when Adrian suffered defeat despite another spirited display, meaning the pressure now fell on Year 9 pupil Charley to produce the good and guide team Rydal Penrhos to a memorable success.

This is the latest in a series of achievements from the school’s thriving Golf Academy, who continue to go from strength-to-strength under the outstanding leadership of programme co-ordinator Ian Richardson.
