Colwyn Bay has become victorious in this year’s Annual Bowling Competition organised by the Llandudno branch of the Rotary Club.

In a good humoured and playful competition between a number of local Rotary teams, regular bowlers and enthusiastic amateurs competed for the shield at Craig-y-Don Bowling Green.

In a quote for Bayside Radio, Llandudno Rotarian Chris Drew joked that “Seasoned bowlers and some snobby seagulls alike were  pretending not to notice the – ahem – somewhat variable standard of some of the bowling in annual competition."

Six teams from the Rotary Clubs of Ruthin, Colwyn Bay, Llanfairfechan and Penmaenmawr and Llandudno Rotary Clubs competed for the shield

Eventually skill and talent won through and Colwyn Bay lifted the trophy, prising it from last year’s holders, Ruthin.

The shield was presented to the winners by President Elect Gavin Davies at a fish-and-chip supper at the Cae Mor Hotel later in the evening. What big team challenge now awaits our local Rotarians remains to be seen!

There are 45,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in nearly 2,000 clubs, helping those in need and working towards world understanding and peace.
