Colwyn Bay back at Corwen for a challenging Saturday

The Seagulls are expecting a tough afternoon when they travel to Corwen for the second time in eight days for their JD Welsh Cup first round tie on Saturday (October 19th).

They will be hoping to complete a league and cup double over their Denbighshire opponents, but Corwen will be buoyant after securing their first win of the campaign in an excellent 3-1 league victory at Conwy Borough on Wednesday night.

Caretaker manager Nick Jones was delighted and also felt his side had deserved a point with their second half  performance against the Bay in last weekend's 2-0 defeat.

The Seagulls should have Mitch Bryant back after missing Tuesday's win over Gresford due to work commitments, but they have a number of injury issues to be assessed and assistant manager Mark Orme says he won't take any chances on what is likely to be a heavy pitch.

"It would be nice to have a run in the Welsh Cup, but it is a long season and we won't risk anybody on Saturday who is not fully fit," said Mark.

"We know it will be a tough game, but we have no qualms about using some of the reserve lads if necessary as the likes of Ash Seddon and Morgan Ashworth came on and did well when we needed them against Gresford."

The match is an earlier 2pm kick off to allow for extra time should it be needed in the event of a draw.
