Colwyn Bay FC were out of luck when the draw was made for the first two rounds onf the Nathaniel MG Cup.

The Seagulls were drawn away to Gresford Athletic in the first round on Saturday August 3rd, and, should they win that, they will be away again against Colin Caton's Welsh Premier outfit Bala Town in the second round a week later.

Seagull's manager Craig Hogg commented: "It is a really tough draw for us.

"Gresford is going to be a very difficult place to visit. They are known for  an extremely hard working side and have a number of match winners.

"For us, it is really exciting to now know who we will be facing and we look forward to it.

"I'm certain there will be a big crowd for the tie as it is out first game back in Welsh football after 35 years in England. We hope we can put in a performance on the day to do our travelling fans proud."

Earlier today manager Craig Hogg has completed the signing of Mochdre-based midfielder Alun Roberts from Prestatyn Town and has also promoted local players Joe Evans and Ashley Seddon from the Reserve set-up.

Alun Roberts has also had played for Llandudno, Conwy Borough and Llandudno Junction, and the manager reported:  "Alun is someone who I've played with in the past at a previous club and  I am delighted we are working together again following his signing from Prestatyn.

"He has done very well since we reported back for pre-season.

"Alun is not only a player who offers us good quality in a number of positions, but he is also in unbelievable physical condition, thanks to his dedication to fitness and his work in the mixed martial arts scene.

Alun Roberts commented: "I am very happy to sign for Colwyn Bay as it is one of the biggest clubs in North Wales.

"The lads have been fantastic to work with in training and there is a real sense of togetherness about the place.

"We are looking forward to the season."

Craig has also this week promoted Reserves goalkeeper Joe Evans and defender Ashley Seddon to the first team squad and commented: "It is really good news for everyone at out club.

"Both players have performed well since we reported back and have now worked themselves into the first team set-up.

"How well they have done is down to their own hard work and I'm pleased for both players.

"A lot of credit must go to our reserve and academy staff for the work they are doing with players outside the first team.

"It is good to see that players are now starting to filter through the ranks and that a real pathway exists for progression into the first team when players are ready."
