Drivers and residents in Colwyn Bay are being advised to plan ahead as essential road resurfacing work is set to take place along a busy stretch of the seafront.
The project will see improvements carried out on West Promenade between Cayley Promenade and Marine Road, with work scheduled to begin on Tuesday 5 May and continue until Friday 15 May.
Contractors will be on site daily between 7am and 6pm, with sections of the road closed at various times to allow the work to be completed safely. Traffic management will include convoy systems, which could lead to delays for motorists travelling through the area.
Parking will also be restricted while the work is underway, with no parking permitted on affected sections of the promenade. However, pedestrian access will be maintained throughout, ensuring walkers and visitors can continue to enjoy the seafront.
The resurfacing scheme involves a full renewal of the road surface, starting with the removal of the existing layer before essential adjustments are made to ironwork such as manholes and drainage gullies. The surface will then be cleaned, treated with a bonding layer, and finished with a new stretch of tarmac, before being compacted and marked out with fresh road markings.
While the process can be noisy and create dust, officials say the end result will be a smoother, quieter road surface designed to last for years to come, benefiting both residents and visitors.
Drivers are being thanked in advance for their patience while the improvements are carried out, with the works forming part of ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade key routes across the area.
