Schools in Colwyn Bay and Conwy have marked A-Level results day with an increase in overall success.

Some schools were open early in the morning so students could be put out of their misery and able to share their news with family and friends.

Ysgol Eirias pupils in particular showed a marked increase in success with the school describing this set of results as one of their best years.

Conwy's A-level pass rate of A* to E improved by 0.6% to 97.2% on the year and the gap has reduced in comparison with the Welsh national Average.

Cllr Garffild Lewis, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Education said, “Congratulations to all our young learners throughout the County who have done so well and worked so hard to achieve these results. Best wishes to all of them as they decide on their future careers and I'm sure they would also join me in thanking parents and families and our excellent teachers and support staff who have helped and supported them throughout their journey.”

Sadly not all students achieved the results they were expecting but help was being made available at schools, colleges and student advice lines during the day. Parents anxious about the options available to their children are advised to go online and study the many options available including a Parent's Guide to A-Levels from GoodToKnow.
