his week Old Colwyn is home to a number of intriguing and fascinating movies in an annual celebration of creative filmmaking and community. 

As Old Colwyn plays host to a very special Christmas Market for the very first time,  The Coastline Film Festival at Tape Music and Film in Berthes Road and will also introduce unique and exciting work to the big screen in Wales for the first time. They also plan to host their first multimedia live event to kick off this year's festival.

The festival supported by Film Hub Wales, will begin on Friday 14th December for 3 days, coinciding with the inaugural Old Colwyn Christmas Market, for which they have set up a free second screen to show a number of Christmas classic movies including the family favourite Home Alone. Tickets for the films shown below are available via the Eventbrite website.

Saturday, 15 December 2018 from 14:00-16:00: A Northern Soul plus Q&A with director Sean McAllister.

BAFTA nominated documentarian Sean McAllister (A Syrian Love Story) returns to his hometown, Hull, as curator of its’ UK City of Culture opening. Back living with his 90-year-old parents and reflecting on changes to a city hit by cuts in public spending and divided by Brexit, Sean is drawn to the fringes of town where he encounters Steve – a struggling warehouse worker with a dream.

Saturday, 15 December 2018 from 19:00-22:00:  The Man from Mo Wax.

The Man From Mo’Wax is the energetic and phenomenal journey, charting the life and career of DJ icon, music producer and global trip hop mogul, James Lavelle, his pioneering record label Mo’Wax and his phenomenal rise to fame with the genre defining UNKLE album, Psyence Fiction.The film gives audiences a remarkable ‘behind the curtain’ look at the music industry and a rare opportunity to experience never before seen personal archive and exclusive home videos from both James Lavelle & DJ Shadow (one of UNKLE's many collaborators). Sunday, 16 December 2018 from 14:00-16:00: Nae Pasaran!

The incredible true story of the Scottish factory workers who defied Pinochet. Felipe Bustos Sierra’s feature charts the incredible true story of the Scots who managed to ground half of Chile’s Air Force, from the other side of the world, in the longest single act of solidarity against Pinochet’s brutal dictatorship.

Sunday, 16 December 2018 from 19:00-21:30: Super November plus Q&A with director Douglas King.

Written by and starring Josie Long, this mumblecore rom-com meets socio-political drama as romance obsessed young librarian who thinks she has found her perfect match. Her friends disapprove of her three date whirlwind romance but they are more concerned with the political turmoil of the country, which leads to a right wing coup.
